Introducing Apple Vision Pro
Vision Pro is primarily positioned as an AR device, but it can switch between augmented and full virtual reality using a dial. The device is controller-less, and to open apps, just look at them. You can tap to select and tap to swipe, and you can also give voice commands.
When talking to people remotely, spatial audio is used to do things like arrange FaceTime participants as "video tiles" around the room. You also won't be isolated from the people around you, as Apple promises. The headset will display your eyes with a system called EyeSight, and if you're in full VR, a glowing screen will hide them, indicating that you're not available.
The device uses direct-pass video that lets you see the real world in full color. Apple says the device can project 3D objects into real space, including pulling objects from a message thread into the real world. Apple also showcased Disney's TV and Arcade content, including premium content, through the headset. Disney used Apple's Vision Pro headset to showcase themed experiences for sports, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic and more. Disney+ will be available for headphones when the device launches. Vision Pro also offers a cinematic video viewing experience to scale the screen beyond the dimensions of your room. Vision Pro is also "Apple's first 3D camera" and shows depth in video with Spatial Audio.
Apple says the camera can be used to capture special moments with depth information added, and also clarifies when a person records images. Apple says Vision Pro supports more than 100 different games from the Arcade library and the system can also be paired with a PS5 or Xbox control when needed.
Vision Pro also allows users to connect to their Mac and expand their screen in a virtual space, including apps running on Vision Pro itself.

The entire front of the headset is made of glass adorned with a lightweight aluminum frame. Inside, the device contains five sensors, 12 cameras, a display and a chip that is apparently cooled by a fan. The top of the headset features a button and the Digital Crown. Vision Pro has a modular system for an optimal fit, with audiopods on the sides. The battery for the headset is separate and connects to the side of the headset via a magnetic connection.
Vision Pro features a microOLED Apple silicon back panel and has 23 million pixels across the two display panels. 4K video can be processed at full resolution. Vision Pro features a new Spatial Audio system that provides ambient sound. Vision Pro can match audio to the environment using audio ray tracing. The device features the M2 chip paired with a new 'R1' chip dedicated to real-time sensor processing.
iPhone and iPad apps will be able to run on visionOS to provide a wide range of apps following the launch of the device. There will be a brand new App Store to discover compatible iPhone and iPad apps, as well as apps built for visionOS. On the security side, the Vision Pro will feature Optic ID. As the name suggests, the device will recognize the user by iris scanning when worn.
